Pupils at the school are allocated to one of four Houses: Hales’, Holland’s, Sherwyn’s and White’s. These are named after the founder of the school and three early Headmasters. Pupils take part in a series of competitions throughout the year. These provide opportunities for involvement in sport, music and drama but there are also events as diverse as cooking, public speaking and general knowledge.
All results contribute to the Band Trophy, donated by a former pupil, CW Band. This is awarded at the final assembly of the year and is hotly contested.
Each House meets once every two weeks, when there is time for recognition of achievements, promotion of forthcoming events and assemblies led by House staff or pupils.
Each House has girls and boys selected as captains for each year group which gives the opportunity to develop organisational and leadership skills.
